Sergeant Joseph Bergeron, MD, of Fort Dix, New Jersey, died on July 26, 2023. He was the author of "The Modern Day Tourist." He was born on July 2, 1942, in Fairburn, New Jersey. Bergeron served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving his M. in 1964. He completed his M. in 1975, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. He served in active duty in the Army from 1975 to 1990, and was promoted to the Air Force in April 1990. Bergeron was the Chairman of the Boards of Pharmacy, the United States Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Adjunct Medical Director from 1987-1992, and Chief Medical Officer of the American Medical Association (AMAA) from 1987 to 1990.
He graduated from Duquesne High School in 1990, and from Duquesne University in 1996. Bergeron married Nachum Katoyo on October 2, 1992, at Fort Dix, N. J. He served as an instructor at Fort Leaven, Kansas; and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Duquesne Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
He served as Director of the Office of National Resources, and as Vice President of the Office of the General Counsel for the U. Army. Bergeron was a member of the Board of Trustees from 2001-2022. Bergeron died on October 3, 2023, at his home in Fairburn, New Jersey, in his 65-room, 200-a-seutenant building. He was the last remaining member of the Board of Trustees.
He was survived by five children and his wife. He was preceded by his parents, Nachum Katoyo and Rebecca Bergeron. He was a member of the Board of the American Medical Association, the American Home Products Association, and the American Pharmaceutical Association. He was a Director of the Office of National Resources from 1998 to 2001.

Esomeprazole is a type of magnesium-containing medication called a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI). Nexium is an oral tablet that contains esomeprazole, a type of drug called a proton-pump inhibitor. It works by slowing the growth and spread of bacteria in the body. This medication is used to treat symptoms of heart failure (such as shortness of breath, heart failure). Nexium may cause pain, dizziness, and nausea in some people. If you notice any symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, get medical help right away. Nexium can increase the risk of lactic aciduria (a metallic feeling in the stomach or shortness of breath) in people who are allergic to it or to another PPI. Therefore, do not take Nexium if you are taking lactic acid diet pills (a type of liquid medication). Tell your doctor if you are on any form of this or lactic acid diet pills (a type of oral tablet).
